So, I watched Mad Max: Fury Road

Oh what a day… what a lovely day

So, I watched Mad Max: Fury Road, it’s been quite a while now since I watched it. But I think I remember what it was about, I mean, it wasn’t exactly a hard plot to follow. The movie follows a man named, you guessed it, Max. Max is being held captive in a place known as The Citadel, by Immortan Joe and the War Boys. Max is designated as a universal blood donor, and therefore used as a “blood bag” for one of the War Boys, Nux, who is sick. It’s probably good to mention that the movie is set in a post-apocalyptic desert wasteland, where both water and gasoline is rare. A woman named Furiosa is supposed drive a truck to Gas Town to get gasoline, but she turns and drive another way. Immortan Joe realises that she has taken his wives with her, and then he sends all of his War Boys after her. This is pretty much where the movie starts.

From here on out it’s action, action, and more action. Only stopping so you can get some time to catch your breath, or, that is what I have heard other people say. But I never felt that way, let me explain.

Mad Max: Fury Road is a “stupid” movie, I think everyone will agree on that. It is not stupid in a bad way, but in the good way, the good kind of stupid. But I would say is that it wasn’t stupid enough, It never went over the top like I expected “One of the greatest action movies of all time” to do. This might just be the reason, that my expectations were unrealistic, but I mean, that is what I expected after watching the trailer, and hearing people talk about it. The movie never surprised me, as it never really brought anything new to the scene. During the movie we just got served more of the same, the same cars, the same guns, the same explosions, and so on. I wanted something new, something fresh, but I never got it. What I thought was interesting got drowned in all of the stuff I had already seen. I went to the movie and expected to be overwhelmed with action, and to feel like nitrous was injected into my brain or something, but I never got overwhelmed, I still had enough time to think about how simple the plot is, and how easy it was to predict what was going to happen.

As with many action movies, Mad Max: Fury Road has a really basic plot. A lot of what happens doesn’t make much logical sense, but then again, it makes for more action. The simple plot made it quite easy to predict what was going to happen, who were going to die, and who were going to survive. I don’t think I want to say more about the plot, so that I don’t spoil anything. It’s a bit sad that it has a weak plot, because i would love to see all the fantastic artwork and designing from Fury Road in a movie with a good plot.

When i began to watch the movie the first thing that hit me was the terrific art style. The designers has done a wonderful job of designing everything from the clothes, to the cars and the environment, it all just looks fantastic. The esthetic is the best part of the movie, in my opinion. It is difficult to describe great it was. I guess you could say that it looks similar to Death Race, just a lot better.

So to a conclusion, was it a good movie? Yes i would say so. Even though the plot was weak, and the action was not as overwhelming as i had hoped, I still enjoyed Mad Max: Fury Road. And if you are not the kind that thinks too much about the plot, and just want some mindless action, you will definitely like this movie.
